Niles Historical Civil War Cannon Relocated

There seems to be a lot of interest in how a 9,000 pound historical civil war cannon and its almost 20,000 pound base was relocated across town.  Area residents were aware that the cannon had been a fixture for many decades at the LaRue Messenger Post of the American Legion.  With the impending sale of the former American Legion post building, the American Legion and the City of Niles came to an agreement to have this cannon relocated to the Riverfront Veterans Memorial Park.  Below are pictures showing how the move was accomplished.  Click on any picture to get a more detailed view.
