Niles Dial-A-Ride Service Information

Niles Dial-A-Ride Transit (DART) has been serving the greater Niles area since 1974.  DART is overseen by the Niles City Council and will be staffed by city employees effective August 1, 2011.  DART is funded by federal and state grants, a transit millage for the City of Niles, and passenger fares.  The service consists of demand response service and one fixed route (Route 2).

DART’s main office is located at 623 N. Second Street.  This location also serves as a stop on the fixed route as well as a transfer point to Buchanan Dial-A-Ride and the Berrien Bus transit systems.

All DART buses are wheelchair accessible with wheelchair lifts to bring passengers aboard.  Caregivers may ride for free.

Fixed Route Service

The Route 2 bus travels between the DART main office on 2nd Street to points along South 11th Street/M-51, but also connects passengers to the South Bend Transpo stop at Auten Rd. and 933. The route stops at many of the major business destinations along the way, including Harding’s, Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Big Lots, and Martin’s. The route also stops at the Niles Library and several of the area’s apartment and senior living facilities.  The Route 2 buses leave the main office on the hour during their hours of service.  Look for the red and white bus stop signs to catch the bus en route. The route bus may deviate upon request to access destinations along the route that are not officially designated stops.  Riders wishing to use this service must call in advance.  For more information, contact the DART office.   Click here for a route schedule.
